One of a Kind……

Have not blogged/written in a very long while (covers face with both hands), and yes I’m trying to start a new tradition of posting something every May 21 (birthdays come that rarely). It has been a long road to self discovery and i am very at peace with the fact that i am me, doing me, not looking at where my peers are and heights they have attained. Competitions are meant to be won, life isn’t one of them. So yes, it’s a happy birthday Abraham Agho, more blissful years ahead…

Move away from the need to compare yourself to others, and you will move towards higher and higher levels of effectiveness and fulfilment. Many of the things you see as limitations and deficiencies in your own life are not really limitations at all; they are created in your imagination when you compare yourself to others.

Don’t waste your time focusing on what others have that you don’t have, instead put your time and energy into making the most of the unique and valuable knowledge, skills and resources that you do have available to you. Don’t allow your energy to be drained by worrying about what others will think, simply be your authentic best and keep in mind what anyone else thinks about you is not your concern.

It’s great when others can learn from others, find joy in being with others and cooperate to achieve mutually beneficial results. Just don’t allow your life to become bogged down by constantly comparing its details with the lives of those around you. You are one of a kind, the more completely you celebrate and fulfil reality, the more satisfying and rewarding life will be.

It’s easy to listen to those who agree with you, yet it can be far more valuable and enlightening to carefully listen to those who disagree. It feels good to receive a compliment or a word of encouragement, yet it can be just as valuable or even more so to receive criticism. It’s great when you can get the results you desire, with efforts that come easily and naturally. Yet it can be even more valuable when you come up against difficult, complicated challenges and must work your way through them.

Some days will bring rain and stinging cold wind, others will bring warm and brilliant sunshine. Yet each day has its own unique, positive value. Whatever comes, there is something to be gained from it, whether it is what you wanted and what you planned, or whether it is not, there’s something you can use. The comings and goings of life may often seem arbitrary, troublesome and unfair. Yet the value when you take the time to see it, just keeps on coming no matter what.
